Lisa & John – Happily Ever After
I met Lisa last fall after her out of state wother found us on the world wide web. Lisa was planning her wedding at St. Philip Church while her fiance was working in California. We discussed some options over the phone and then she came in for a tasting.
This is what she loved:
Sliced Beef Tenderloin
Grilled Chicken Breast
Asparagus
Mashed Potatoes
Rolls
Garden Salad with choice of dressings
Lisa decided to add Lemonade, Iced Tea & Coffee to the food for beverages. I arranged the rentals for the event to include the red napkins that popped off the white tables and coordinated with the bridesmaid dresses. One of the last additions to the wedding was some glass Coca-Cola bottles, they even matched the color theme!
Everyone had a wonderful afternoon celebrating the couple and enjoying all the fabulous food. Congratulations Lisa & John, enjoy your honeymoon in Hawaii!
Wine & Swine 2009
Friday night we participated in Wine & Swine at the Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville, TN. The event was gorgeous and benefitted a great cause, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The weather was gorgeous and so was the set up at the Carriage House. All of the restaurants in attendance served a pork (swine, get it?) dish for guests and Arrington Vineyards sponsored the event and supplied some of their very tasty wines. Red Pony Restaurant & SOL Restaurant served Carnitas Tacos with freshly warmed tortillas and choice of salsa. The tacos were a great hit and so was the event!
Grider-Tucker Wedding Reception
We have some great events coming up in the next few months, but I thought we could take a walk down memory lane and showcase some of our previous events.
Julie & Chris got married last June in Kentucky (yes we travel!) on Julie’s family farm. The weekend was perfect weather and Julie was a joy to work with.
The reception took place outdoors in a large tent by the family’s home. They started the evening with cocktails and passed appetizers on the lawn and then moved in the tent for dinner, music, dancing, & lots of fun! Dinner consisted of four seperate food stations spaced throughout the tent. Each station had a fun name and description for the menu card placed at each setting: Classic Cold & More, La Cucina de Amor, Goin’ South, and Mi Amor
Classic Cold and More – The bride & groom really wanted to include sushi in their reception but didn’t want it to be a focal point so we included it with the fruits, cheese, marinated, vegetables, crackers, etc
La Cucinca de Amor (The kitchen of love)
This station went south of the border with our enchilada, salsa, queso, rice, beans, lobster & brie quessadillas, and our famous guacamole.
Goin’ South emphasized the couples southern roots with Shrimp & Grits and Oyster Shooters displayed in a lit ice tray.
Mi Amor was a hit with everyone with the made to order pasta station plus some pre-made pasta dishes and garlic bread.
And to think all of this was created 250 miles away from our base in Franklin in an outdoor kitchen–the options for your event our truly endless!

Your Custom Menu
As you may already know we specialize in custom menus. What exactly does that mean for you?
cus⋅tom [kuhs-tuh m]
-adjective
made specially for individual customers
This is exactly what we do at Red Pony Catering – we make the menu specially for you and your event. Of course we have our specialties but our real specialty is food. Our talented chefs can accomplish anything from a casual shrimp boil to a five course wine dinner.
If you don’t like onions - we leave them out
Allergic to gluten – we make it gluten free
Vegetarian/vegan – we forgo the meat
Love artichokes – we use them
Prefer healthier choices – we skip the deep fried and focus on fruits & veggies
Want everything to be red – we use tomatoes, strawberries, red peppers
We do all of these things so that you enjoy the food at your event.
A menu like this doesn’t come from a list of pre-priced menus, but is just as easy for you. Once we know the feel for your event, your special requests, your dislikes and your budget we have a brainstorming session. The chef sits down and comes up with some ideas that he thinks will fit, we then send you those ideas. Then you let us know what you like and dislike about the chef’s menu, the evolution of your menu begins.
So don’t be afraid to ask for something special, because that is what we do.
your event…creative, tasty, effortless
Nashville Lifestyles – SOL Restaurant
Check out this article about Chef Jason McConnell and SOL Restaurant featured in Nashville Lifestyles.
It has some great recipes that you can make at home!
“Jason McConnell, already known for Franklin’s popular Red Pony restaurant, had planned to open Sol, his take on traditional Mexican cuisine, in Nashville. But when the building across from Red Pony became available, he recognized the value of the location, and took it—thus continuing to buck the Williamson County trend towards chain restaurant fare.
Not to be deterred with regard to the Nashville market, McConnell has a few other things up his sleeve—most exciting is the potential for a “taco truck” providing great Sol cuisine to downtown during the week, with daily stops and menus posted on social networking sites. Yay, Sol fish tacos in the Gulch! With any luck, we’ll be seeing the Sol truck before the month is out….” Read the full article & recipes.

Red, Red, & Red
A color theme can tie any event together. Why not bring that color into the food that is served at your event? In honor of our nation’s holiday I thought I would start with one of those colors…RED!
Here are some images of food and beverage from previous Red Pony Catering events. The combination of all of this red would create a truly stunning event.
Strawberry Cheesecake Bites
Tomato & Mozzerella Skewers
Tuna Tartar in Asian Spoons
Strawberry Champagne Cocktail
Smoked Salmon Tostadas
And of course Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!
